Description

Fifteen days across Rajasthan, beginning and ending at Kolkata by train. The route runs from Bikaner in the north through the Thar desert to Jaisalmer, then south to Jodhpur, Mount Abu and Udaipur, before turning back through Pushkar to Jaipur.

Along the way the tour covers the great forts and palaces of the desert kingdoms, a night under the stars at a Sam Sand Dunes camp, the lakes and gardens of Udaipur, and darshan at Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple. Hotels, meals, sightseeing and a professional tour manager are arranged throughout.

Itinerary

Assemble at Howrah Railway Station and board the Bikaner SF Express. Overnight journey by train.

A full day of train travel towards Bikaner, an easy day to settle in with fellow travellers. Overnight journey by train.

Arrive at Bikaner Railway Station and check in to the hotel. Visit Junagarh Fort and see Lalgarh Palace from outside, with an optional visit to Karni Mata Temple at Deshnoke. Overnight stay at Bikaner.

After breakfast, drive to Jaisalmer, approximately 330 km taking 5.5 to 6 hours. Check in to the hotel and visit Gadisar Lake in the evening. Overnight stay at Jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli, followed by Sam Sand Dunes with a camel safari and sunset point. The evening brings a Rajasthani folk dance and cultural programme with dinner at the desert camp. Overnight stay at the desert camp.

After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur, approximately 285 km taking 5 hours. Visit Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the Clock Tower Market. Overnight stay at Jodhpur.

After breakfast, drive to Mount Abu, approximately 265 km taking 5 to 5.5 hours. Visit Nakki Lake and Sunset Point. Overnight stay at Mount Abu.

Visit Dilwara Jain Temple and Guru Shikhar before driving to Udaipur, approximately 165 km taking 3 hours. Evening visit to Fateh Sagar Lake. Overnight stay at Udaipur.

City Palace, Jagdish Temple and Saheliyon Ki Bari, with an optional Lake Pichola boat ride and an optional Bagore Ki Haveli cultural show. Overnight stay at Udaipur.

After breakfast, drive to Pushkar, approximately 285 km taking 5 to 6 hours. Visit Brahma Temple, Pushkar Lake and the local market, followed by the evening aarti. Overnight stay at Pushkar.

After breakfast, an optional visit to Ajmer Sharif Dargah, then drive to Jaipur, approximately 150 km taking 3 hours. Visit Birla Temple and see Albert Hall Museum from outside. Overnight stay at Jaipur.

An early morning departure for darshan at Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, a round trip of approximately 160 km. Return to Jaipur for evening shopping at Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar. Overnight stay at Jaipur.

Amber Fort, a photo stop at Jal Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal, followed by local shopping. Overnight stay at Jaipur.

Breakfast and hotel check-out, with free time depending on train timing, then transfer to Jaipur Railway Station to board the Sealdah SF Express. Full day and overnight train journey.

Arrive at Sealdah Railway Station. The tour ends with memories of Rajasthan and Khatu Shyam Ji.
